Movie Review:
Last Sunday, classes 18 to 22 watched a movie
called “Mao’s Last Dancer.: I want to give 8 out of 10 stars to this movie. I
liked it, and also king of shocked that the movie was based on real story. Anyway,
I didn't like that main character, Li Cunxin, Let me tell you the reason why I
don’t like him that much while explaining the plot. This movie was made in 2009
and also has any lessons in it. If you say to me try to introduce the whole
story in one sentence, I would tell you a short talk. Long time ago, There was
a frog in the well. He always thought the sky only shown to him is everything.
One day, toad suddenly came to the frog and say, ‘What is the reason why you
don’t you come out? There are more things to experience out here!’ Li’s father
didn't tell the conclusion, but I think a frog came out form the well. This
story introduces everything about the plot.
Li
Cunxin was just one of the seven sons who lived in countryside, but when he
went to United States of America, he became a super star. While he stayed
there, he met Elizabeth Mackey. Here is the reason why I don’t like Him! To
stay in United States of America forever, he married with Elizabeth. That was
fine, because I liked that couple. Anyway, he divorced with her after few
years. To me, I only think he was using Elizabeth’s true love to just stay in
America and dance. I think he didn't really love her. Maybe he did, but I think
his feeling to want to stay in America was bigger than love. About his decision
to say in the United State of America, it was not good either. He was able to
dance freely and be a super star, but he couldn't go back to China, like
forever or more. I can’t say his decision was good or bad, because if he’d go
back to China, he won’t dance and couldn't meet Elizabeth who he used to love,
but if he’d say in United States of America, he also can never see his parents.
Anyway, he met his parents again in USA and went back to China long time later.
For that part, Li Cunxin’s life was pretty successful.
Of
course, he had a teacher who inspired him a lot to dance more. When he was in
Beijing, he hated to dance ballet and just go back to home. But, his teacher
Mr. Chang helped him. Unfortunately, he was fired from the school in China by
not presenting ballet performance about Chinese government. However, he
motivated Li’s goal and literally made him to the one of the famous ballet
dancer. My friends are my motivators. It is not like I think them like a rival
or something, but I felt little bad if I got lower score then them. Oh, please
don’t say I’m selfish.
For
ending for this movie review, I want to recommend to people who are just
wondering between what they want to do and what they don’t want to do like Li
Cunxin. It could be a motivating movie for them too, like me.
